The Project

The project is investigating how student attrition works in enabling programs and developing a range of evidence-based best practice strategies to improve student retention rates in enabling programs along with guidelines for their use. These results will be widely disseminated in order to help practitioners of enabling education, in Australia and elsewhere, to improve the effectiveness of their programs in helping students succeed in their desire to gain a university education.

Enabling programs allow people who want to go to university but who lack the qualifications – because of disrupted or disadvantaged education, changing their mind about their career or for a variety of other reasons – to gain both a qualification allowing access to university study and the necessary skills and background knowledge to succeed once they are at university.
